I didn’t realize that the last time Boyet and I went to Italianni’s was four years ago! So one rainy Sunday afternoon after hearing mass, we decided to have our tummies filled with good food by Italianni’s.
While waiting for our lunch, complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip were served to us. The bread is just as good the way I remember it from four years ago. It has a very crunchy crust yet it’s very moist inside.
We used to just dip it in the olive oil and balsamic vinegar mixture. But Lovely, the gorgeous blogger behind It’s a Lovely Day, mentioned in one of her old posts that she usually puts Parmesan cheese on her dip. The server gladly obliged when I asked for Parmesan cheese. Lovely is absolutely right. Though she also puts pesto on the dip, the Parmesan cheese alone added texture and balanced out the strong flavors of the balsamic vinegar. I can stay at home all day and eat this pair!
I wasn’t in the mood to have rice that day. I don’t know why, but I feel that I’m falling out of love with rice. Hindi na ako masyadong kain-kargador lately. :p Anyway, I decided to have Baked Ziti.
The penne pasta was cooked al dente, just the way I like it. I could taste the distinct flavors of the Italian sausage. Though I like pasta dishes with ground beef, the smoky flavor of sausages takes anything a notch higher. The Baked Ziti of Italianni’s is perfectly seasoned. I loved how the melted mozzarella cheese sticks to the pasta. The combination of Parmesan and mozzarella cheese fueled up all my senses.
My husband’s food picks are usually on the so-so side. I was initially unimpressed with his choice of Grilled Pork Chop. Because unlike my favorite liempo, pork chops have the tendency to be dry and chewy. But this one was different.
The grilled pork chop is served with vegetables, black peppercorn sauce, fried spinach and garlic rice. As juice flows out of the meat, I knew at that moment that this pork chop is different. I also loved the peppery flavor of both the pork chop and the sauce.
The garlic rice isn’t oily which is an added point for us. Even the vegetables were perfect! And just like how my husband chose the perfect wife, he was lucky that day in choosing the perfect lunch. HARHARHARHAR!!!
Boyet had iced tea while I had dalandan juice to help us gulp down our delicious lunch. The iced tea was ok. But I think that the dalandan juice was a bit too sweet for my taste.
Thank you, Italianni’s for welcoming us back with open arms and good food! I do hope it won’t take us another four years to come back. *wink wink*
