Blue Coral Beach Resort (Laiya, Batangas)

Our family braved the long drive to Laiya, Batangas to have some R&R at Blue Coral Beach Resort. We liked it so much that we didn’t mind doing it one more time a few months after our first visit. We first went around May to celebrate Mama’s birthday. It was the last weekend of the summer vacation so the resort was still at its peak season. We were able to enjoy Blue Coral without the crowd when we came back last September.

Blue Coral is found along the strip of resorts in Laiya, Batangas. It’s just one breath away from Acuatico Beach Resort. Boyet and I went to Acuatico Beach Resort with our friends years ago, but we didn’t dare to come back. Given Blue Coral’s proximity with Acuatico, my husband and I just couldn’t help but compare the two.

Blue Coral takes pride of its large pools. They have an infinity pool facing the sea, which is definitely a relaxing view. I no longer have the luxury to bring my DSLR camera so the photos taken by my mobile phone cannot fully capture how wonderful of a sight it is.

They also have a kiddie pool which is large enough to “entertain” a large number of kids. It’s nice that the kiddie pool has varying depths so even the smaller kids like Zayne can still enjoy it.

The beach was too crowded when we went to Blue Coral in May. That’s why it was such an amazing view when we came back in September. The clear skies and the blue sea perfectly matched the almost deserted shore. But if you’re looking for a beach with fine and crystal white sand, then you gotta skip Blue Coral. Pero grabe, ang relaxing! Kahit chipipay lang ang camera ng phone ko, na-relax pa rin ako. HAHAHAHA!

Zayne kept on saying OUCHY each time her feet touch the sand, but she got used to it.

Blue Coral Beach Resort has a huge space perfect for big groups. I guess this is why it’s one of the most famous choices for company outings. We were a group of 11 adults and 4 kids, and we never really felt “suffocated” even when we visited in May. The large area between the reception and the pool area is perfect for kids to run around. My knees really wanted to give up as I kept on chasing Zayne who didn’t want to be stopped with all the running. The kids also loved the pond filled with koi! :)

Blue Coral has a tree house which Papa and some of my cousins had the chance to go to. We were all laughing when Mama was panicking because she could not find Papa. All of us kept on giggling because we could see Papa from the tree house. Kung hindi lang ako naawa sa nanay ko, hinayaan ko siyang pumunta sa beach para hanapin si Papa! =))

We decided to get two rooms in both of our visits. One room which is good for 4-6 people costs PHP5800. The room has two beds, and the resort provided for an extra mattress and extra pillows and blankets. The bathroom is spacious and clean. I appreciate the fact that the shower area is separate from the toilet.

The room also has a refrigerator and cable TV. We all wished that they offer more channels, though. We only got to watch GMA, ABS-CBN and one cable movie channel. The rest of the channels have really bad reception.

Our room during our first visit was just a bit hot during the afternoon. The AC was fine at night and when we came back last September. I guess the resort really needs to upgrade their AC units because they are not cool enough to combat the scorching heat of summer.

I don’t know how Mama did it, but she managed to get a discount on our second visit. I think she told the reservation officer that we are returning guests so we only paid PHP4060 last September. I checked their website as of this writing, and the same room now costs PHP6000. We saw some renovations being made last September so I am not sure if it was the reason behind the “discount” we received and the recent price increase. I do hope that they really made some changes with the room. The rooms are fine, but the resort can do so much more to make their guests’ stay more relaxing and comfortable. We actually called the receptionist to complain about the toilet being clogged on our second visit. They apologized and immediately worked on it.

So you’re probably wondering why we decided to come back despite some hiccups with our rooms during our first visit. It’s because we unanimously agreed that their food is amazing! Oo, guys. Kami ‘yung mga tipo ng tao na pagkain lang ang katapat! HAHAHAHA!

We were initially bummed that the we had to pay PHP1600/pax for the food. I crammed preparing for our family outing last May. Almost all of the resorts I inquired were already fully-booked. Luck was on our side because there were only two rooms remaining in Blue Coral during our first visit. In short, napilitan lang talaga kami. Pikit-mata kaming nagbayad ng PHP1600 per person! Pero ayun, umulit pa kami, ‘di ba? Hihihi!

For the said price, we enjoyed buffet dinner, breakfast and lunch. Food is always served hot, and they make sure that the guests don’t run out of food. It’s also nice that they offer varieties. Kumpleto lagi sa buffet! May seafood, veggies, pork, beef, soup, appetizers, fruits and desserts!

If you’re an avid reader of this blog, then you already know that I’m hard to please when it comes to food. And you’re probably aware that MY MOTHER IS HARDER TO PLEASE!!! Pero, tuwang-tuwa siya sa Blue Coral! The food they serve is not on the five-star-hotel-tulo-laway level of sarap. Nandun siya sa lutong-bahay-pero-niluto-na-puno-ng-puso kind of sarap. Saktong-sakto pa ang mga timpla. Hindi maalat, hindi tinadtad ng vetsin! I guess it gave us that cozy feeling despite being away from home.

I’m actually planning to have another family vacation next year. I asked my parents for suggestions, and they seriously included Blue Coral Resort on the list! HAHAHAHAHA!
