Restaurant Review: Sbarro

Most of my lunch mates where either out on vacation or joined their respective team building activities last Friday. My tummy was already grumbling as early as 10 in the morning so I decided to give my old friend Aubrey a welcome treat as she also joined our company a few weeks ago. I told her that I’ll ask for a refund if I don’t get my referral bonus. Hehe!

I chose Sbarro for lunch. Though it is just a few steps away from our office, we seldom get the chance to eat there because of the long queue of people during lunch breaks. We were lucky enough to get out of the office a few minutes earlier so the number of customers was a little manageable.

Aubrey has just spent barely a month in the office but her stories are endless. So without us knowing, we just kept on talking and eating.

One slice of pizza is never enough for me unless it’s Sbarro’s. I opted to have the Chicago Deep Dish with extra cheese toppings. The pizza is stuffed with all the meat you can imagine and topped with marinara sauce. The oozing melted cheese balanced the slight sourness of the marinara sauce. Writing this makes me want a slice of Sbarro pizza.

Aubrey opted to have the Chicago White pizza. It really looked so appetizing because of the mixture of the melted cheese and white sauce. I have wanted to try this but pineapple in my pizza is big no-no!

Customers have the option to order half or full servings of their pasta dishes. I was planning to get the full serving when Aubrey opposed, which was a very wise decision. I got used to eating too much with Aubrey and Erlie. I forgot that we are slowly graduating from our kain kargador days.

Anyway, I wanted to have white sauce over our baked ziti but I made a mistake to upgrade it. We got the extra meatballs and meat sauce. I didn’t enjoy it as much as when I get the white sauce topping but it was still way better than the baked ziti of Chef D’ Angelo.

Instead of the usual garlic bread, I decided to have the pinwheel instead. I have always loved Sbarro’s pinwheel but I was already so full so I asked Aubrey to eat it. Hehe!

  5. @Jane, everybody loves Sbarro ^_^

@MrsMartinez, Yes I am acidic but that is not the reason I don't like pineapples. I just don't like it in my pizza for some odd reason. :p
