I first saw Cibo and convinced Boyet to try it out. We were supposed to have our November get-together at Cibo but we had to switch venues at the last minute.
I requested Boyet to choose for the appetizer. Our choice was between Spinaci Zola and Pate di Fegato, settling for the latter. Round toasts that come with the chicken liver pate dip and fruit sauce. I am so used to the local salty and spicy canned liver spread but this one was so different. I couldn’t stop munching the toasts smeared with a generous amount of the pate. I hate chicken liver but how can you loathe it if it mirrors the sweetness of peanut butter? I even took home the leftover pate. My brother enjoyed spreading it in crackers.
Pate di Fegato Php198
Cream-based pasta is my weakness so I tried Penne Alla Florentina. Bland cream-based pasta in some restaurants will never come near the taste of Penne Alla Florentina. The pasta is well-soaked with the rich cream sauce and the smoky flavor of the sausage added flavor.
Penne Alla Florentina (regular) Php263
Rigatoni All'Alfonso, pasta with shrimps and stewed tomato was Boyet’s pick. It was absolutely delicious. I was awed and speechless after tasting it. It was so yummy that I was sipping the extra sauce as if it was soup. I love the thick spicy sauce and the sweetness of the tomatoes though Boyet kept on insisting that it was sour. We enjoyed the perfectly-cooked pasta which was neither mushy nor starchy.
