The perfect staycation is the one where you have the opportunity to explore everything at your pace. While most of us like the idea of staying in numerous hotels and experiencing it from the perspective of a tourist when we have a staycation, we do, to an extent, already have background knowledge. But in the US and many other countries, you don't have to travel far to get a new sense of experience. A motorhome or RV is one of the great ways to cover more ground. This is one of the many things I failed to do when I stayed in the US in 2010. So in case you have the chance to try it out, let me provide you with a few staycation ideas!
South Dakota
The Black Hills in South Dakota provide so much beauty and activities that you are spoilt for choice if you are looking for something to do with the family but also spend time in a place of sheer elegance. You can spend some time in Custer State Park, giving you the opportunity to witness the wildlife, but also stay in the campground and make new friends. Get yourself a camper trailer tent, and it adds that little bit extra to your RV, gives you that opportunity to sit outside, safe under the shelter, but still witness this beauty, despite the potential for torrential weather.
Florida
If you're on the hunt for family-friendly destinations and pleasant weather as well as all the theme parks, Florida has got it all. From Busch Gardens to Universal Studios, and of course, Disneyworld, there is plenty. Enjoying the blissful sunshine at any time of year gives you the opportunity to relax, take in the warmth, and spend time at the theme parks bonding as a family. For those that don't have families, you have still got the opportunity to venture further south into campgrounds that gives you the chance to experience beautiful beaches as well as a variety of restaurants. And if you want to, you can go fishing, and enjoy a more tranquil pace of life.
Las Vegas
You wouldn't think that the sparkliest city in the whole wide world would have many campgrounds, but they do. If you want to venture to the entertainment capital, take in all the shows that your wallet can afford while also hitting the casinos and then heading back to the campground, you've got plenty of opportunities. And if you're looking to save a few pennies, you need to keep your eye out for the various food deals. You can truly have your fair share of fun, but also ensure that you have plenty of great memories regardless of who you're traveling with! Las Vegas is one of those cities that tells a story just by looking at it. And if you are heading on a group vacation with friends or taking in a few shows with the family, Las Vegas has plenty.
Heading out in an RV gives you an opportunity to experience a vacation destination without all the trimmings. When you go on vacation, and check into the various hotels dotted around, you can have an almost sanitized version. But in the USA, arguably one of the greatest countries for a staycation, there's plenty to take in! Enjoy!
