Our family had an overnight staycation at Somerset Millennium Makati to celebrate Papa’s birthday last September. Mama and Papa have been taking care of Zayne while my husband and I work, and I figured that a staycation would be a perfect treat for them. I really wanted to book a two-bedroom suite so we could all bond together, but there are very limited options in the Metro that promise not to break the bank. This is why I’m glad that I discovered Somerset Millennium barely a couple of weeks before Papa’s birthday. We stayed at Ascott Makati for Zayne’s first birthday photo shoot that’s why I was very confident that the Ascott group would once again deliver!
This was where Boyet, Zayne and I stayed. You have no idea how important a big and comfy bed is for parents who co-sleep with a hyperactive toddler. I’m just glad that I was able to snap very few photos of the bed before Zayne started jumping on it!
Our bedroom was such an eye candy. It looks clean, simple and very organized. It definitely sparked joy! Ang sarap niyang higaan pero nakakahinayang siyang gusutin! Hahaha! Zayne and Boyet spent the first couple of hours of our staycation cuddling while watching TV.
I have yet to stay in a hotel that has more channels than our cable subscription at home (haha), but the one at Somerset Millennium is way better than the other more expensive hotels we’ve stayed in the past. Their cable TV has very good reception and offers a lot of channels. It was the perfect tool for our plan – do nothing for the entirety of our stay. Haha! (Serious question: May hotel ba na may Netflix? Or sana hotels have smart TVs so I can just project Netflix from my phone. Hihi!)
Back when Boyet and I were still struggling with infertility, we would spontaneously go on staycations to unwind and take our minds off the fertility workups. I would also take advantage of that time to catch up on my pending blog posts. That is why I really like hotel rooms with a nice study corner that is conducive for writing. But gone are those days. Now with Zayne always in tow, patungan na lang ng gamit ang study corner ng hotel room namin! HAHAHAHA!!!
Our bathroom is uhmmm-azing! It’s big and the design is simply aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. It has a bathtub which Zayne definitely enjoyed using.
The toilet area is at the far end of the bathroom. There’s a vanity area at the middle which separates the toilet and bath tub areas. I love that our suite follows a specific color theme. Pati restroom, ang relaxing sa mata!
The hotel provided ample towels and basic toiletries. Imagine how happy I was when I saw that their bath essentials are from Crabtree & Evelyn!
Our suite has two bathrooms. Both are equally stunning! May pa-bathtub din ang room ng mga soon-to-be senior citizens kaya very happy din sila Mama at Papa!
Mama and Papa stayed at the other room. It was a no-brainer that they got the room with the two single beds because they both snore. Haha! Although the beds differ, their room still has the same relaxing vibe as ours. Ang sarap sarap talaga sa mata!
Our rooms are separated by a spacious and incredibly classy living room. There are a few pieces injected all throughout which accentuate the monochromatic colors of the room. I really had the impression that each piece which constitutes the entirety of the design is well thought of.
The living room also has cable TV. Mama and Papa stayed here and watched Tagalog movies while Zayne, Boyet and I checked out the nearby park. We were so invested in having a STAYcation that we just decided to have dinner delivered to our room!
Somerset Millennium is a serviced apartment with a fully functional kitchen. I’m pretty sure that they cater mostly to expats who work in Makati as we bumped into a few of them during our stay. Their kitchen has everything you need – from stove, microwave oven, refrigerator, cookware and utensils. But because we wanted to have a stress-free stay, we decided not to touch the kitchen. Wala na nga kaming ginawa ni Mama sa bahay kundi magluto e! Hahaha!
And because it’s also meant for both short and long-term stay, the hotel provides other living essentials like an iron and ironing board.
Somerset Millennium has a very nice guest lounge and fitness center. Mama and Papa went to the fitness center to exercise the next morning. I was amazed with how the disposable cups and water dispenser were perfectly camouflaged at the gym. Check out my photo below!
The guest lounge has a couch and a reading nook. Papa said that the receptionist told him to feel free to get some coffee from the espresso machine. I really wanted to stay at the guest lounge, but Boyet and Zayne had other things in mind!
Situated at the same level of the guest lounge and fitness center is the hotel’s pool area. We discouraged Zayne to swim in the afternoon so she kept herself very busy bugging her Tatay while playing billiards! Hihi.
Much to our surprise, we had the area all to ourselves despite staying at the hotel on a weekend. The pool area has a TV. I remember watching some sort of a quiz bee for kids on TV habang tuwang tuwa ako na iniistorbo ni Zayne si Boyet sa billiards! Wahahaha!
I don’t know where Zayne got the idea of sipping juice while relaxing at the pool. She must have gotten it from one of the many YouTube videos she saw! (Shameless plug: Show us some love by subscribing to our YouTube channel!) Boyet and I could not stop laughing as Zayne endlessly pretends to chill by the poolside! May nalalaman pa siyang, “Cheers, Tatay!” HAHAHAHA!!!
Boyet turned Zayne’s dream into a reality the following morning. O, dabah? Feel na feel ng bagets ang pagkashala niya! Wahahaha!!!
We were joined by another family at the pool the following morning, but it was still big enough for Zayne to enjoy her morning swim. I did a few laps while Boyet and Zayne played at the kiddie pool. The water was just so cold. I guess it gets hotter during summertime.
Our stay includes free breakfast. Their buffet spread is very limited as it only includes salad, cereals, different kinds of breads and spread, fresh fruits and congee. But Somerset Millennium definitely made it up with their plated meals!
Each guest is entitled to a plated meal from the menu. Boyet had the delicious daing na bangus. I had a few bites of it, and it definitely reminded me of a perfectly home-cooked meal. I opted to have their corned beef. I was shocked that it looked different than the usual. Akala ko kasi ‘yung mukhang de-lata. Haha! But their version was surprisingly delisssshhh! I thought the beef chunks would be chewy, but I was mistaken. I honestly want to come back for it! Hihi!
Somerset Millennium has everything you need for a relaxing staycation. They have complete and top-notch facilities in case you simply want to stay in your room. But if you want to explore the area, there’s a nearby park, and it’s just walking distance from Greenbelt and a lot of restaurants!

I always trust your reviews sa staycations. Ang kaso, yung mga friends ko ang natutuloy. Hindi ako ang nakakapag staycation ahahahaha I refer your page to them for the details.
ReplyDeleteBut I remember, you once told me, hotels in Ortigas offer a better deal. True enough, napatunayan even sa Agoda. I avoided prime areas like Makati and BGC. Pero siyempre, part of me still wants to try the 5 star hotels in those places.
Next time, sana ma try mo yung side ng Parañaque, City of Dreams and Okada. :) I think Zayne will love the fountain show and the view from the room sa Okada.
Thanks, Diane! Sana hindi ako mapahiya sa mga reviews ko. Hihi. Nagtry ako one time maghanap sa Okada kaso laging yung mga suites na lang nila ang available tapos susme nasa 300K. Hahahaha! Akala ko naduling lang ako e. :p
