Zayne specifically requested for rice, chicken and pancit during our first visit. I wasn’t really keen on trying out chicken because Golden Bamboo has a lot of mouth-watering choices from their menu, but Zayne was the boss that day. She has never been a picky-eater so we really give her what she wants especially when we ask her for her opinion. Haha! Anyway, it turned out to be an excellent choice because their Crispy Chicken was so good! We could literally hear its sound as we bite into the chicken skin. And have you noticed that it’s such an eye candy?! My cellphone camera is unable to give justice to how great it really looks!

I was expecting the meat to be dry, but I was surprised that it wasn’t. Served with fish crackers on the side, I had the impression that their Crispy Chicken is one of their bestsellers primarily because I noticed that most of the tables during our first visit had it. Hihi.
The Crispy Chicken went really well with the Yang Chow Fried Rice. One thing I disliked about eating in some Chinese restaurants is ingesting too much oil and salt. I think that’s one of the reasons why we fell in love with Golden Bamboo Restaurant. We got to eat tasty food without overflowing oil and salt. This Yang Chow Fried Rice, for example, is far from the usual oily and salty fried rice that I’ve eaten in other Chinese restaurants. Plus, hindi tinipid! Ang bongga sa dami ng mga sahog! Parang hindi na nga kailangan ng ulam! :p

Zayne was craving for pancit while Tatay wanted to have soup. They compromised and opted to have lomi. Wala ako sa usapan. Hahaha!!!

I initially got mad when I found out that my husband paid PHP300 for a bowl of lomi. All my anger was washed away as soon as I saw the generous serving of the lomi. We even took home some leftovers. And just like the Yang Chow Fried Rice, grabe ang mga sahog! I remember seeing giant shrimps on the bowl. Apart from the generous serving, the lomi is also very delicious! It has the perfect balance of varying textures and flavors from the vegetables, meat and shrimps.
For some odd reason, my husband craved for siomai. It came as a surprise to me because between the two us, I am more likely to crave for dumplings. I realized that he already ordered a lot of food, but he insisted on getting the Japanese siomai. I’m not really a big fan of it because I would rather get pork or shrimp siomai. This one was… uhmmm… just okay.

I got to vlog bits and pieces of our first attempt at Golden Bamboo Restaurant. We liked it so much that we decided to go back to celebrate Mama’s birthday! I’m so glad that our second try didn’t disappoint!
On our second visit, we jump started our sumptuous lunch with a large bowl of their green soup! Pwedeng maghilamos sa sobrang dami! Haha! I failed to take a photo of it, but here’s the rest of what we had.
We got the small serving of their Assorted Cold Cuts, but it was more than enough for us six adults. A lot of people find it weird that I loooove century egg. It’s always the first thing I get from any cold cuts platter. I’m soooo happy kasi hindi mapanghi ‘yung century egg nila!

I thought I already hit the jackpot with the century egg until I tasted the rest of the platter. Everything was so delicious! ‘Yung parang lechon kawali – sobrang crispy pero ang lambot ng laman! All of us unanimously agreed that one stood out from the platter. Unfortunately, none of us knew what it was. We also forgot to ask our servers. The pale meat at the right was such a delight to our taste buds! Parang may partey partey sa bibig kapag kinain! It was so tasty!
The Salt and Pepper Squid was cooked to perfection. It was already good on its own, but the tangy vinegar dip on the side made it even better.

We make it a habit to try every Chinese restaurant’s Sweet and Sour Pork because we don’t usually cook it at home. Matrabaho at makalat kasi lutuin! HAHAHAHA!
Don’t you hate it when you eat this dish, but it’s either too sweet or too sour? Minsan akala mo arnibal, minsan naman may libreng ngilo! Hahaha! It’s definitely not the case for this one. Everybody loved their Sweet and Sour Pork. The sweet, sour and salty flavors are so balanced, and the pork strips retained its crunch.

Because we went to Golden Bamboo Restaurant to celebrate Mama’s birthday, we were entitled to a free serving of Birthday Noodles. It is not only an eye candy, it also tastes so good! There was a generous serving of everything- vegetables, shrimps, quail eggs and meat! I loved that everything was cooked right. The shrimps were not overcooked, and the vegetables are still crispy!

Golden Bamboo Restaurant is so spacious. I saw some wall dividers which gave me the impression that they accept reservations for special functions and events. Their staff members are very nice and accommodating. I haven’t been blogging about food for a long time because I no longer have the time to update this blog as much as I wanted to. We still eat out a lot, but I no longer feel the urge to write about it, especially if the food is just… meh. But I had to make an exception for Golden Bamboo Restaurant! Even my mom, who happens to be a notorious food critic, kept on bugging us to come back!
I’m also happy to report that I didn’t experience any headache on both visits. Sa ibang Chinese restaurants kasi, mina-migraine ako sa sobrang alat at mantika! Hihihi!

Tawang tawa naman ako sa "minsan akala mo arnibal" :D Sweet & Sour pork is my favorite Chinese food!
ReplyDeleteI tried North Park 4x already. Sumakit ulo ko on all occasions, kaya mas na-appreciate ko 'tong Golden Bamboo. :)
DeleteBakit parang lahat ng nanay ay notorious food critic at suuuuper hirap i-please hahahaha Natakam ako sa cold cuts and japanese siomai, curious ako!!! In like manner, dami ko na naririnig na good place ang Ayala Mall Circuit... ang layo lang kasi sa taga norte :p
ReplyDeleteYes! Ang daming bago sa Circuit. Marami pa ring mga saradong spaces na may tarps ng mga upcoming restaurants. :)
