Going to Mambukal Resort was initially not a part of our Bacolod itinerary. We used to have those planned trips with even the littlest detail planned out, but the corporate world swallowed all of us whole. We were all so lost and clueless because we really just wanted to spend our three days in Bacolod eating inasal. But thank God for our Ilonggo friends, we were able to make the most out of our short stay in Bacolod.
Mambukal Resort was suggested by one of my Ilonggo teammates. He was the same person I mentioned in my previous post who said, “Hindi ko maintindihan ang mga taga-Maynila bakit The Ruins ang dinadayo sa Bacolod.” Ang intense ng pagkakasabi niya sa akin that time! Kaya sabi ko sa kanya, “Okay, fine! Pupunta na kami sa Mambukal!” HAHAHAHAHA!!!
We drove 15 minutes from our hotel to the restaurant where we had our breakfast, and then it was another one-hour drive to reach Mambukal Resort. Zayne just turned one year old, while Aubrey’s daughter, Skye, was three months away from turning three years old when we went to Bacolod. That’s my disclaimer so don’t crucify us when I tell you that we were not able to see the main attractions of Mambukal Resort. Huhu. :(
Mambukal Resort is known for their seven falls. We were supposed to hike and see at least one, but one of the staff members discouraged us when they saw us carrying Zayne and Skye. Kuya said that we could reach the first fall by walking for around 20 minutes, but he said that the trails are a bit steep and slippery. We asked Jeff, Joie and Erlie if they wanted to go without us. Huwag na lang daw. Hindi ako sure kung nakokonsensiya silang iwan kami, o natakot sila sa haba ng lakad! :p
Pa-fall din ‘tong si Mambukal e. HAHAHAHA! Pero promise, babalik kami! Kaya ayun, picture picture na lang kami without the falls sa background. :p
If I’m not mistaken, Mambukal Resort offers accommodations for guests because I saw some huts while we were strolling around. Looking back, I think we should have booked one less night in the hotel and stayed at the resort instead. And then we could just probably take turns in going to see the falls while some are left behind to take care of the kids. But, oh well. Masaya na rin ako. I got to see other ANYO NG TUBIG na sobrang linis. (Naks, anyo ng tubig talaga! WAHAHAHA!!!) Wala kasi neto sa Manila!!!
P.S.
Parents, if you want to tag your kids along, please make sure you bring insect repellent. Kahit kaming matatanda, nag-spray rin kasi medyo maraming lamok. :)
