When I think of Greece, the first thing that pops into my mind is the beautiful island of Santorini. Someday, I’ll go there. Someday. But until I can afford traveling to Greece, I think I’ll settle with enjoying Greek food. And when we talk about Greek food, the first restaurant I can think of is Cyma.
It has been months since Cyma opened its Robinsons Manila branch. I once dined in their Greenbelt branch so I knew that my husband would probably not like it. Compared to me, my husband’s taste buds are not as adventurous as mine. I knew that the strong flavors of Greek cuisine would turn him off. But one day as we were running out of ideas of where to have lunch, I asked him if he wanted to try Cyma. To my surprise, he agreed!
The restaurant’s interiors surely gave us the vibe of being in Greece. The blue and white chairs mimic the colors of Santorini.
Greek cuisine is not a very popular choice for my husband. If he can stay away from it, he will surely do. He scanned the menu several times, but he still settled with the more “conservative” choice. He loves eating fish in as much as I hate it.
Cyma’s menu isn’t lying as it says that the salmon is moist, flaky, tender and buttery in flavor. I took a bite of it, and it somehow increased my love of fish from 1 to 2 percent! Hahaha! Buttered salmon has the tendency to be overpowering. But a squeeze of some lemon juice can change this. The flavors of this dish are very impressive. My husband was definitely more impressed because he asked for another serving of rice!
As soon as I saw this on the menu, I knew that it would be my lunch for the day. Medyo nosebleed ako sa name, kaya ang sinabi ko sa waiter – CHICKEN KEBAB! HAHAHAHA!!! =))
I first tried to have a bite of the pita bread. It has a hint of saltiness which I really loved! It’s so good, I’m so confident that it will go well even with peanut butter. :p
Large chunks of chicken are skewered with fresh tomatoes. It comes with parsley salad, yogurt garlic sauce (which is very addicting) and a slice of lemon. I squeezed some lemon juice on the chicken, salad and garlic sauce. I cut the chicken and tomatoes into smaller pieces, mixed them with the parsley salad and the garlic sauce, and placed them on the pita bread. I just could not stop chewing! My husband was laughing out loud because I didn’t care if I was already getting messy. Pati daw ilong ko, kumakain! =))
I may sound like a broken record, but I really love the garlic sauce. Boyet was so surprised because my plate was wiped clean! :p
