Calle Crisologo

Kuya Lenzer initially told us that we’d spend the night in Laoag, travel to Vigan the next morning, and then stay in Pagudpud until our last day. But since we were terribly worried that this itinerary would make us miss our flight, we asked if we could do the Vigan – Pagudpud – Laoag leg instead. And besides, Joie wanted to see Calle Crisologo at night. With this, our tour guide agreed to our request.

Calle Crisologo is just walking distance from Vigan Plaza Hotel. One of the things that made me look forward to our Ilocos trip is that moment when I would finally be able to set foot in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Filled with old houses which stood the test of time, tourists can experience being brought back in time of the Spanish era. ‘Di ako prepared, dapat nag Maria Clara costume kami ni Joie. Chos! :p

Going to Calle Crisologo at night has its ups and downs. The good side is the place is relatively deserted. When we went there, we only saw some guards and a group of boys who were practicing a dance number to the tune of Teach Me How To Dougie. Hihi! The downside is that all of the shops were already closed so we weren’t able to check out the souvenir shops.

The lights are the only sources of radiance in the darkness of the night, such a perfect setup for night photography. E kaso lang, hindi naman ako marunong ng night photography! :p Though I have to admit that going to Calle Crisologo at night gave us a serene view of the place, my camera didn’t feel the same way. Haha! I was stressed out because I was not able to get a single decent shot.

The Calle Crisologo we saw that night was very far from the images we see from blogs where it gets crowded during the day. If there’s any consolation, we got the entire place all by ourselves for taking pictures, no unwanted persons in the background.
