Where To Stay In Vigan: Vigan Plaza Hotel

A couple of weeks before our Ilocos trip, we had a hard time looking for a place to stay. After seeing so many online reviews, calling and sending email messages to numerous hotels, we were able to reserve a room at Vigan Plaza Hotel. All the hotels with positive reviews were already fully-booked so we had to give it a go even if it’s a bit pricey. And besides, maarte kami ni Joie sa hotel! :p

After more than two hours of travelling from Laoag to Vigan, we reached the hotel by 8:30PM. The hotel receptionist recognized us right away because according to her, we were the only guests who made a reservation and haven’t checked-in yet. That’s what you call GRAND ENTRANCE! Teehee!

Being inside the Vigan Plaza Hotel will definitely bring you back in time with its old-fashioned interiors. The hotel’s location is also perfect as it is just walking distance from Calle Crisologo and Plaza Burgos.

The moment we entered our room, everybody exclaimed, “WOW!!!” Our room is equipped with an electronic door lock system, so medyo nangangain siya ng tanga. :p It took us a couple of minutes to figure it out. Haha!

We were supposed to reserve two separate rooms, but we decided to just share. After all, we just needed a decent place to stay for the night. The room costs PHP4200 which is already inclusive of breakfast for four people.

The beds are very comfortable and the air conditioner made us sleep very soundly! Super lamig! I had to wake up in the middle of the night to set the AC to its highest temperature setting. Fortunately, the blankets and comforters smell so good and kept us warm.

The cable TV has a very strong signal! And there are a lot of channels! Since we were too tired because of the plane ride and the two-hour travel by land, watching TV was the most relaxing thing to do.

Since I’m very particular with a hotel’s bathroom, I immediately checked the one in our room. It’s spacious and very clean too. There is a divider that separates the shower area from the rest of the room so the entire floor does not get wet when someone takes a bath.

The hotel also provides four bath towels and two hand towels. A complete set of basic toiletries were also provided.

Kuya Lenzer, our very kind tour guide asked us to be ready by 7AM because our day would be jam-packed. We woke up really early, and we were ready by 7AM… to have breakfast! Hahaha!!! Sira ang schedule! :|

The hotel’s restaurant offers a variety of breakfast meals to choose from. Boyet and I opted to have an All-Filipino breakfast meal.

One of the many reasons I was looking forward to our Ilocos trip is the food! I’ve tried Vigan longganisa before, but I wanted to try the authentic Vigan longganisa. I wasn't disappointed because I loved the strong garlicky flavor of the longganisa. My meal comes with fried rice and two eggs, cooked according to your liking.

Boyet got himself bangus instead of the longganisa.

On one corner of the restaurant, there’s a table with different kinds of fruits. A waitress served us fresh slices of banana, orange and green apple. We indeed had a heavy and healthy breakfast to jumpstart our day!

At the end of the day, we didn’t mind that we paid PHP4200 for our accommodation. With its excellent location and facilities, superb customer service and good food, we definitely got our money’s worth. :)
