A Breeze of Good Deeds #31: The Nameless vs The Faithful

Yesterday, someone with a very “juicy” mind related the date 08/07/12 to Genesis 8:7-12. The cynics panicked thinking that, “Oh my God, it’s the story of Noah, God is wiping out the Philippines!”

But as I tweeted last night,

If you read that chapter, the rain has already stopped. Good try, people! So that you know, it also mentions, God remembers Noah

So I claim that I am Noah. And that God will NEVER abandon me.

Now is not the time to be a pessimist. Turn everything bad into a positive thing; it will make you see God’s wonders clearer.

As of this writing, the creek near our house already overflowed. But with the magic of God’s hands, PAG-ASA announced that the RED warning has been lifted, at least for the next three hours.

As we learned that the creek has overflowed, the first thing my mom told me “Hoy yung mga sapatos mo ipanik mo na!” I know, I know! Nauna pang isipin ng nanay ko ang mga sapatos ko! :p Seriously, when Ondoy hit us three years ago, we were caught off guard so most of my shoes were washed out. That same year, some pieces of furniture were destroyed. So today as we were planning what to place on higher grounds, we realized that some of our things are not even three years old! But then again, it was a reminder that WE SURVIVED ONDOY! It was a reminder of God’s mercy on us. It was a reminder of how blessed we are that we even managed to share something to those who were not as lucky as we were. It was a reminder that though God takes something away from you, you simply have to let go because He will never cease to provide.

With all the bad news, good-hearted people never fail to come to the rescue.

The person/s behind @MMDA, @dost_pagasa and all the other Twitter accounts who made the lives of every Filipino, especially the commuting public easier…

All the brave rescuers who are risking their own lives to save others…

My bosses (and probably yours too) who checked the welfare of everybody in the wee hours of the morning, perfect example of Safety First Before Business…

All those who donated and are continuously donating for the relief of those who are greatly affected…

All the family members and friends who untiringly show concern. When someone asks me “Musta Je” or tells me “Ingat ha”, it just feels extra special! It speaks of genuine love and concern. I even receive messages from as far as the USA just to check out if my family is safe.

And the list goes on.

So if for a moment you think that God has abandoned you, think again!

Taken from Ruth's blog:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” --- Deut 31:6

Deut 31:6, I can’t connect it to 8/8/12. Hahaha! Sorry, bukas hanap ako ng 8:9-12. :p

Ruth, thanks for sharing that verse!!! :)

We survived Ondoy. We can survive this nameless monsoon thingy!

Etong monsoon chorva habagat eklavu na parang starlet, walang pangalan pero panay ang pasikat! Malalaos ka rin! Malalaos ka ni God!!! --- Je's Book of Ka-Echosan, not in any way taken from the Bible :p

Be safe, people! And yes, stay faithful!

  2. Nagpanting ang tenga ko nung unang sentence pa lang ng post na ito je... I hate it when people twist Scriptures for their own pleasure!!!! may masabi lang talaga ung iba grrrrrrrh. Believers trust this promise instead in Genesis 9:8-11

    Genesis 9:8-11
    New International Version (NIV)
8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 “I now establish my covenant with you(A) and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant(B) with you:(C) Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.(D)”

The final judgement will be FIRE hindi flood
    2 Peter 3:10
    New International Version (NIV)
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.(A) The heavens will disappear with a roar;(B) the elements will be destroyed by fire,(C) and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a](D)

so kung sino man nagsabi niyan sana lang magkaroon siya relationship with Christ para hindi ngccause ng panic na baseless
