Aside from Panda Express, Leeann Chin is another famous and accessible place that serves Asian cuisines in the Twin Cities. They have a branch near our hotel which we always pass by to and from the bus station. It was the group’s choice for Zel’s farewell dinner since she wanted to eat somewhere close to our hotel so she could go back early to finish packing.
We braved walking on a very cold night since not all of us could fit into the car. All of us went home earlier except for Red so we just agreed to meet at Leeann Chin. But we wrongfully estimated Red’s arrival. I was laughing out loud when I read his Facebook post on my wall saying that he is already in LEEAN CHAN. So that made me wonder if Leean is related to Jackie Chan. :)
Just like the other oriental diners, Leeann Chin also offers affordable platter combination from the wide array of their menu. I chose to have the Imperial Plate which includes half appetizer, half entree and a choice of noodle or rice.
I picked Oyster Chicken for appetizer. Three chicken wings are stir fried in oyster sauce. The server winked and told me that I’ll get an extra wing because I got the small ones. She smiled and asked me to keep our deal a secret. Almost all of us got and enjoyed the Oyster Chicken. The salty and savory sauce coated the crispy chicken skin so I couldn’t help but use my bare hands in munching.
I wasn’t up for rice that night so I settled for their Asian Noodles – stir fried noodles with soy sauce and vegetables. It was delicious though I felt it was a little salty and definitely oily. Fortunately, it went very well with the Orange Chicken, my entree choice. I liked it better than that from Panda Express because the acidity is just right for my taste buds.
I fell in love with the Cream Cheese Rangoon from Panda Express so my eyes lit up when I saw the Cream Cheese Puffs from Leeann Chin’s menu. I liked the crispy wanton wrapping the oozing cream cheese. I still enjoyed it but the Cream Cheese Rangoon from Panda Express is still the best.
