Restaurant Review: Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken at Robinsons Manila

A long strip of restaurants opened at Robinsons Manila, one of which is Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken. Years ago, Joie started raving about it when she first tried their SM Megamall branch. But because I don’t usually go to Megamall, I never really had the chance to prove whether her rave is warranted. I got so excited when it finally opened a branch at RP, but so are the other diners! We spent months waiting for the long queue to subside until we finally got lucky a few weeks ago. I guess it’s mainly because there are newer restaurants along that same strip. Hihi.

We warmed our tummies by having some chicken soup. There was really nothing with the soup that made it shine, but it was perfect to jump start our meal. Plus, PHP69 for unlimited servings of soup is definitely not that bad!

My husband was eyeing a lot of things on their menu, but I told him that it would be weird if we don’t try their chicken. My husband is the type of person who goes for the first time to a restaurant known for selling burgers and orders tapsilog. Haha! Good thing he was starving at that time so it was quite easy for me to convince him to try their chicken.

We had the option to choose two side dishes so we opted to have 2 servings of Java rice. I’m not sure why, but Zayne almost finished my rice! I guess the yellow-orange color appealed to her. Haha!

Boyet wasn’t really impressed with the chicken, but Zayne and I actually liked it! We were already done eating, but Zayne still kept on asking for more. The smoky flavor of the chicken was very evident. They offer different kinds of sauces to go with it, but the chicken alone is already tasty. I also liked that the meat is still very moist and tender. The breast part usually gets dry and flaky, but it was not the case with this one.

My husband and I were up for some stress-eating so we decided to get additional orders. We got salted egg potato chips, while Zayne asked for some fries.

Because Zayne kept on eating the chicken and my rice, she totally forgot to eat the fries which she initially craved for. I ended up eating most of the fries, and I couldn’t stop munching on the potato chips. Sayang naman ang pagbabalat ng mga patatas ni Sarah! Nyahahaha! Both were actually good enough for their price tags.

We’re definitely coming back to try out the other items on their menu. Apart from pasta and flat breads, they offer a wide array of side dishes. I drooled when I saw the Buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks and nachos from the next table! Hihi!

  1. Sarap nga dyan. Peyborit din ni kakay yung rice at chicken nila. Ako naman gusto ko yung cheese dip something.

  2. We were there last Father's Day...ang haba ng pila (as expected), hahaha. Like ko rin ang chicken nila. Saka yung spiced mayo na sauce na bagay na bagay sa chicken wrap at quesadillas (both are part of their healthy plates/meals). And true,s ulit ang P100 appetizers nila. Aprub yang resto sa mga dual citizens namin (price and taste-wise) kaya mukhang babalik pa kami dyan. Hehe. :)

  3. Peri - Peri was a surprise for me. Nag-aalangan ako lagi sa grilled chicken because preferred ko talaga ang fried. Hindi nila ako na-disappoint. I also tried their meat dishes, okay din. Other than the food, I love their interiors.

Natutuwa ako sa RP Manila, lahat na nung restau na gusto ko i-try nandun na. Recently nakita ko yung Early Breakfast Club and another Japanese restau pa. Nagulat din ako, may Lugang Cafe na :)
