Restaurant Review: Toast Box

One night while we were waiting for the number coding scheme to be lifted, Boyet and I decided to have dinner before hitting the road. Both of us were not hungry and incidentally, Toast Box is just across one of the parking lots in BGC so we paid it another visit. A couple of years ago, there was a Toast Box branch at Robinsons Manila, but it stopped its operations even before we could give it a try. Fortunately, Toast Box in BGC is just a few cartwheels away from where I work.

This specific branch occupies a corner lot. We luckily got to sit on the couches facing the street. We were initially doing some people-watching while waiting for our food to arrive. We later on decided to continue watching My Love from the Star, which by the way was requested by my dear husband. :p

Hubby and I shared a cup of coffee. We don’t usually drink coffee at night as it messes up with our sleeping pattern. But we woke up really early that day. Plus, the smell of coffee was so inviting. (Apologies for the poor quality of photos. Hihi!)

This coffee is really good. It’s so good that I even had to remind my husband to save something for me. I think I got 2 or 3 sips. But although I only got the last portion of the coffee, I must say that I was really lucky. I wasn’t sure what it was, but there was a creamy liquid silted at the bottom of the cup. It tastes like condensed milk, but I am not really sure. Anyway, I stirred what was left of the coffee, and it tasted better!

We were supposed to get their set meals, but we were not in the mood to have eggs that night. We just had toast instead.

Both were simply a slice of bread cut into bite size squares. The one with condensed milk is undeniably delicious. It reminds me of my childhood days when I wake up after an afternoon nap and I see something like this on our table. Kain neto habang nanonood ng Sarah... Ang Munting Prinsesa. :p

Years ago, the idea of having floss on bread was alien to me. But with the popularity of Bread Talk, floss buns have become a staple in our house. The version of Toast Box is actually good. It has a hint of sweetness which is probably from the condensed milk. The floss added that distinct salty kick which complemented the sweet flavor.

Toast Box has a homey ambiance which makes it a perfect place for friends to catch up over coffee. But aside from their breads and unique beverages, Toast Box also has something for those with bigger appetites. They also serve Hainanese chicken and noodle soup. :)
