Review: Bono Artisanal Gelato at SM Aura

My husband and I love going out with our trip buddies, Jeff and Joie. But since we are all paying for a house, going on out of town trips had to be put to a halt. But this definitely didn’t stop us from catching up once in a while. One Thursday night after our trip to Japan (a.k.a. our dinner at Ramen Nagi), we decided to stop by Italy for some gelato! Harharharhar! Ang epekto ng walang pera! :p

It was already 8 PM yet there was still a queue at Bono. Two soft-spoken male crew members attended to us.

Me: Hindi ko alam kung bingi ako dahil sa sipon ko, o sadyang ang hina ng boses neto nila Kuya.
Joie: Hindi girl, ang hina talaga ng boses nila.

HIHIHIHIHIHI!!!!

Anyway, thank God for the queue because it gave me a chance to decide what to get (Joie and I were also able to squeeze in some tsismisan time away from the boys). I really had a hard time choosing from their menu because my husband specifically asked me to just get one scoop for us to share. But I wanted to try everything!!!

I was initially planning to try Malted Cookie Dough, but Joie said that she’s also getting it. Because I knew that we’d end up sharing our cups of gelato, I decided to change my choice to Strawberry.

I overheard a woman who made a comment that the PHP130 a scoop is pricey. But with the quality I got from my cup of gelato, I have to say that every centavo is worth it! The gelato is very creamy and has the right blend of sweetness.


While we were enjoying our gelato, I noticed Joie’s face crumpled. When I asked her why, she told me that she finds the Malted Cookie Dough weird. “Bakit ganun ‘yung lasa,” she asked. Her facial expressions piqued my curiosity so I asked if I could give it a try and offered her to try my cup. I love love love the Malted Cookie Dough! The Strawberry was actually good, but I find the Malted Cookie Dough more exciting for my taste buds. It has more texture that I could bite into. I don’t understand why Joie didn’t like it, but I was just so glad that she didn’t. :p Fortunately, she loved the Strawberry so we ended up exchanging cups! Hahahaha!!!
