Restaurant Review: Stacy’s at Bonifacio Global City

It was a quiet Thursday afternoon when I dragged my husband to an early dinner. We went to the office really early, and we could not hit the road until 7PM (a.k.a CODING. Thanks, MMDA!) so we had no other choice but to spend almost two hours inside a restaurant. I picked a place where it feels like the sun is never going to set.

Stacy’s is a small yet cozy place at BGC. I first saw it a few months ago and was immediately mesmerized by the joyous feeling it brings to busy corporate people like us passing by. If you happen to have plans of visiting this place, don’t forget to stop and smile at that cute bicycle with basket parked at the front of the restaurant. And aside from the homey atmosphere, you’ll definitely love this charming setup by the window!

The blue and white checkered table cloth with the very simple floral arrangement made me feel like I was in a tea party. This place is beaming with positivity! ^_^

I kept on telling my husband, "Ohhh! I want this for our house... And this one too!" Bilang patola siya, sabi niya, "E 'di dito na lang tayo tumira?!" Basag trip ka tsong! :p

Since it was still too early for dinner, Boyet and I decided to have a slice of Sans Rival. Some Sans Rival are too sweet (and too creamy) which sometimes overshadow all the goodness of this dessert. Fortunately, the one we had that night is not too sweet. I love the generous serving of nuts which helped form an orchestra of different textures in my mouth.

After we finished our desserts, a staff member came to our table with a mug of complimentary sweet treats.

I never imagined buttered popcorn would go well with strawberry-coated pretzels and marshmallows. But it worked! I love how the hint of saltiness of the popcorn complemented the sweetness of the pretzels and the marshmallows. I can stay here and eat this all day!

After munching on the popcorn and Sans Rival, we finally decided to take the menu a little more seriously. We had been scanning the menu for more than an hour, but we could not decide what to get.

Boyet opted for Stacy Jones. If you’re a jealous wife and your husband tells you “I want Stacy Jones,” you’ll probably punch him in the face without thinking twice. Though it sounds like a sophisticated woman-slash-mistress, Stacy Jones is actually a very simple dish that we practically grew up with.

According to the menu, Stacy Jones is “Tender yakiniku cut US beef sirloin tapa smothered with loads of garlic, served with eggs, fresh tomatoes and roasted garlic rice.” In short, it is the zashal version of our local TAPSILOG. Teehee!

The beef strips are very tender. It also tastes good, but we certainly had something better somewhere else. Though it’s something plain and ordinary, the balance of flavors is very evident as we could taste a hint of acidity being masked by the beef’s saltiness and sweetness. What actually blew me away were the scrambled eggs. The eggs are fluffier and perfectly seasoned.

On the other hand, I decided to have Texas Barbecue Ribs which is fork-tender ribs served with herbed rice and buttered carrots and corn kernels.

I love how they present the rice. Same as the Stacy Jones, my rice is heart-shaped which made my heart skip a beat. Hihi. It was actually a nice touch which made my plate more appealing. When it comes to the taste of the ribs, well, it was just okay. Tastewise, it actually reminds me of the baby back ribs from Racks.

Boyet wanted to try their Raspberry Iced Tea. He was generous enough to let me have a sip of this very refreshing drink. I love raspberries. I love lemon. And I love iced tea. So technically, my husband had a sip of MY drink. :p
