I know that it is already a cliché, but our elders taught us not to judge a book by its cover. The same goes with restaurants. Don’t be deceived by posh interiors because they might be serving food that tastes like blah. I cringed at the first sight of Charlie’s, not because it is ugly or dirty, but because it is very different from the usual restaurants I have been to. The place can get a little bit crowded, but I figured that this is a good sign for it only means that people love the place.
Their menu is written in a giant blackboard. I had a hard time deciding what to get because I wanted to try everything! But since Charlie’s is well-known for their burgers, I opted to give it a try. If you’re an avid reader of this blog, (Yes, I have avid readers! 5 sila! :p) then you probably know by now that I love burgers. A lot of people take burgers for granted not knowing that a good, fat, juicy burger can end a world war! =)) Anyway, I was initially indecisive whether I’d get Wagyu or Angus burger. So when Boyet said that he’d get an Angus burger, I went for Wagyu.
So what can I say about my Bacon Wagyu Cheeseburger? Let’s just say that this burger can lift my spirits if I catch Boyet having an affair. Of course it will only make me happy once I have already chopped him and his mistress into tiny pieces. LOL! The patty is really juicy so expect your meal to be messy if you’re getting this. And there’s bacon. Anything with bacon is divine!
It has lettuce, tomatoes and cheese that oozes out of the bun. I also like that the bun has a hint of sweetness. There was an orchestra of flavors as I bite into my burger.
It bothers me that my husband does not like bacon on his burger. Who refuses bacon?! Anyway, he opted to simply have the Black Angus Cheeseburger even if I convinced him to try the Bacon Angus Cheeseburger. Homaygawwwwd!!! His burger is just as good as mine. Well technically, mine is better because of the bacon. Hihi! :p The rest of the group also had Wagyu and Angus burgers.
Since Erlie was paying for our burgers, Joie and I decided to have some add-ons. Para hindi naman isipin ni Erlie na kafalmuks kami! :p
Joie got Irish Nachos (if I remember it correctly) not knowing that it’s also fries. Akala ko rin literal na nachos e. So we were all surprised when another basket of fries with a generous serving of sour cream, cheese sauce, onions, tomatoes, black olives and jalapeno arrived on our table! I am a little biased because I love anything with jalapeno. But the rest of the group enjoyed it too. Most of them were trying to remove the black olives which was an advantage for me because I love olives. Nyaha!
If there’s buffalo wings on the menu, I’ll definitely get one. So my choice was a no-brainer. We got half a dozen of buffalo wings which was perfect since I was having dinner with 5 people. My husband could not handle the heat. But since I am a lover of spicy foods, it was heaven for me. The bleu cheese dip helps neutralize the heat and adds a diverse flavor to the wings.
If you’re in Kapitolyo, which is a foodie’s haven, promise me you’ll not miss Charlie’s Grind & Grill. =)

ReplyDeletetotally agree about jalapenos and wings. I love the wings here! and the chili cheese fries, more than the burgers haha.
Yay gusto ko bumalik!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love their buffalo wings with the blue cheese dip! We dined naman at their Ronac Art Center branch in San Juan, mas maganda ambience doon kesa sa Kapitolyo branch nila. Hehe. :)
