Chris Medina got the attention of the world with his version of Breakeven during his American Idol audition. He may not be the best singer. He may not have the belting prowess but he is one contestant that I am not forgetting anytime soon. Half the world probably knows his story. His fiancée got into an accident a couple of months before they were supposed to get married leaving her paralyzed. In a world where practicality rules, he surely had a way out. He could have easily walked away. They are not yet married anyway. But he didn’t. He stood by his girl and even continuously takes care of her.
I wasn’t disappointed at all when he didn’t make it to the top 24. Because I knew that he has already captured the hearts of many not only with his music but also with his story.

“What kind of guy would I be if I walked out when she needed me the most?” I first heard of these words on his first audition. People who have found someone who do not only say but also mean these words are very lucky. I’ve seen relationships fail, even marriages fall apart. In this day and age, breaking up has become a habit. Most of the time, giving up is the most convenient thing to do. It’s easy for some people to throw away a life’s worth of relationship for things that do not really matter at all. I’ve seen husbands cheat for younger women because their wives are getting fat. Shallow yes, but these are real stories.
Three months from now, I am making a promise. But more than mere words, I am really praying hard that God will give us the strength to stand by to our commitment. For hearing wedding vows are romantic. But what are these words if they’re only for good times?

Oh my, tears almost fell from my eyes.. I didn't know about him coz i dont watch american idol. Sad but I admire him for standing by his fiancee. Thanks for sharing
