Restaurant Review: Hwangso-Ga Korean Restaurant

Hwangso-Ga is a Korean restaurant located along Adriatico St. in Manila. If you’re an avid reader of this blog, then you probably know that we go to Robinsons Manila almost every weekend. By doing so, our family already ran out of places to eat inside the mall. Thanks to my fellow blogger, Edel, I came to discover this Korean restaurant which happens to be just across the mall!

I was craving for Korean food for the longest time. I could not stop bugging my husband to bring me to a Korean restaurant. I think this is brought by the different Korean dramas that my husband and I watch. Each time I see a scene where the characters grill meat, I feel like wanting to eat grilled meat, too! Inggitera much! Nyaha! So when I told my husband that I read from a blog that there is a Korean restaurant near Robinsons Manila that offers an eat-all-you-can buffet, he immediately agreed to go there.

We arrived a little past 12 noon, but we were so lucky because there were still a lot of vacant seats inside the restaurant. And then people started to come in as soon as we arrived! Haha! Anyway, one of the servers immediately handed us a plate of Samgupsal. Samgupsal Buffet costs PHP349 per person. But we decided to have the Brisket and Samgupsal Buffet instead which costs PHP399 per person. I immediately started grilling while my husband went ahead to survey the buffet table.

UPDATE on November 4, 2014: We went back today as we were craving for a Korean feast once again. We were so surprised that there are a lot of other dishes which we failed to try the first time we went there. I specifically loved their potato balls and the pumpkin porridge. What surprised us more was when one of the servers gave us another serving of brisket and samgupsal! It turns that these were unlimited too. The waiter told us that diners just need to ask for a refill. They don't automatically give out new plates because they don't want the clients to pay for the leftover fees. To cut the long story short, super sulit pala ang PHP399!!!

Aside from these, our lunch also includes everything on the buffet table. The table has complete appetizers (banchan). Marble potatoes have always been my favorite! They also serve soups, dumplings, bulgogi, kimbap and almost everything that you usually look for in a Korean restaurant! Next to the grilled meat, I specifically loved the spicy chicken from the buffet table! They also serve fruits. I don’t really like eating pineapples because of its strong aftertaste, but I ate a lot of sweet pineapples in Hwangso-Ga! Ang dami kong exclamation point sa paragraph na 'to! :p

Hwangso-Ga Korean Restaurant

Hwangso-Ga may not have the same appeal as with the other more popular Korean restaurants in Metro Manila. It’s a simple-looking restaurant hidden behind a giant mall. But believe me when I tell you that this is a hidden gem. Food is really good, and the service exceeded our expectations. The crew members are very friendly and efficient. And they are really quick in refilling the buffet table.

Gaaaahhhhhh! Writing this makes me want to go back as soon as possible!

  1. I'm glad nagustuhan nyo rin ang Hwangso-Ga. Sulit diba? Love ko rin yung spicy chicken nila, pati yung beef bulgogi ba yun. Saka yung parang baby food na squash soup, pangontra sa anghang. Hehe. Hindi ko na-try yung bibimbap nila last time, kaya gusto ko rin bumalik pa! :)

P.S. Wow, extra pala blog ko dito! Thanks sis. Nga pala, I added your blog to my blogroll (under letter J) because I think it deserves a place there. :)
