My family enjoys eating. As I was growing up, my parents made sure that we all eat together. With my brother’s hectic schedule at school and with my bizarre working hours, eating together has been quite a challenge. That is why we all make it a point to celebrate every important occasion by simply eating out. Since today is Mother’s day, there is no better way to celebrate it by treating my mom to a sumptuous dinner.
Tang City was my mom’s choice. My brother tried to object as he wanted to try out something else. But since it is Mother’s Day and not Brother’s day, we all headed to Tang City for dinner. Tang City is one of the few Chinese restaurants that we frequented as I was growing up so we were practically familiar with their menu.
I think my dad believes that it is a mortal sin to eat on a Chinese restaurant with plain rice. Yang Chow is usually my dad’s choice. Four of us consumed 1 ½ order of Yang Chow!
I suggested we try out their Century Egg with Japanese Tofu. I love century egg and tofu. So this dish was definitely a blast for me. It was the first time that I tried Japanese tofu. I liked its sweetness which reminded me of my favorite taho.
My mom made sure that we have a serving of vegetable for the night so she ordered Fish Fillet with Broccoli Flower.
My parents have tried their Fried Scallops but it was the first time for me. I have always loved scallops especially when my mom mixes it with different vegetables. It was my first time to see and taste fried scallops. It comes well with their special vinegar. This is a must-try!
A visit to a Chinese restaurant is never complete without dimsums. Since I was in a Chinese restaurant, I ordered my favorite Japanese siomai! Hehe! The unorthodox in me definitely came out when I ordered Japanese tofu and Japanese siomai in a Chinese restaurant.
