No Sugar Banana Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

banana oatmeal cookies for kids (3)

I have always been conscious with what I feed Zayne. I strictly followed the NO SALT and NO SUGAR diet for Zayne until she turned one year old. My daughter is already 19 months old, but I still keep her salt intake at a very minimum. I usually replace salt with natural flavorings like fresh herbs. We eat out with Zayne so I guess I’ve already relaxed a bit with salt. (But my parents still say that I’m OA when they see me preparing boiled vegetables with no salt at all for Zayne! Hahaha!)

Sugar is an entirely different story! I still don’t allow Zayne to eat sweets. She still hasn’t tasted chocolates, cakes and ice cream. I always see Zayne pretending to eat ice cream when she sees a photo in one of her books, and she always says with eyes closed, “Hmmmm! Sap! (Sarap!)” HAHAHAHA! Hey, hey! Baka naman sabihin niyo sobrang OA ako! Once in a while, I allow her to eat some organic biscuits that I buy from Healthy Options. That specific brand has approximately one gram of sugar for every half a cup of serving (around 7 grams). Zayne only eats a few pieces every now and then so I guess that amount is negligible. Ayun, OA pa rin! Hahahaha!

I usually serve fresh fruits to Zayne for her afternoon snacks. But Zayne started to demand for her biscuits more frequently so I searched for alternative snacks for kids. I happened to miss baking so I tried making some banana oatmeal cookies for my toddler!

Sobrang dali lang, mommies! Mas natagalan pa nga akong kumuha ng pictures! :p

I’ve tried a few versions of this recipe, but this one is Zayne’s favorite. I first tried equal portions of flour and oatmeal, but that turned out too chewy for Zayne’s liking. I also tried lessening the amount of cinnamon.

Zayne loved the cookies! My husband also said that he didn’t notice that the cookies do not have sugar. But just in case you want to bake something more adult-approved (haha), you may opt to add some chocolate chips to the mixture. You may also check out my recipe of Chocolate Chip Cookies here! :)
