Boring to Bravo: Accessorize an Outfit with Jewelry

Do you remember the time when I told you why I would never be a fashion blogger? Ever since I wrote that post, I promised myself to make some major revamps with the way I dress up. People close to me know that I’m so lazy when it comes to dressing up. I am usually on my shirt-jeans-flats outfit so people really get shocked when they see me sporting anything outside my usual getup. When I come to work wearing a dress, people automatically assume that I have a date! Although I love dressing up, I have the tendency to focus on comfort more than anything else. But as I look at the posts of the gorgeous fashion bloggers in this country, I realize that I can look fashionable and still be comfortable. Yes, I can still wear the usual shirt-jeans-flats combination, but there are ways to brighten up a boring getup. The most common, yet something that I always overlook, is accessorizing an outfit with jewelry! To aid me in achieving my goal of trying to look more… errrr… fashionable, I went to Pinterest to check out some plain outfits made more interesting with the help of accessorizing with jewelry.

jennifer aniston Ahhhh! My style icon! Look at this basic white tee and jeans combination. The necklace certainly turned this outfit from boring to bravo. Of course, it wouldn't hurt  to have Jennifer Aniston’s face and sexy bodeeeeehhhh

bangles with dress It’s cool how the bangles added more “uhhhmphhh” to this outfit!

banglesNow, this is my usual getup – simple and very laid back. Next time, I’ll try to match it up with some colorful arm candies.

bohemian I think I can pull this off. Ahmmm, minus the cropped top, of course! :p

I found this while I was browsing Pinterest. I can’t believe how clueless I am when it comes to accessorizing. I didn’t even know that there is a guide in accessorizing an outfit depending on the neckline. Hahaha! I told you I know nothing about these things. :p

I’m not really fond of wearing jewelry. My staple includes my MUMU (as in MUMURAHIN) silver earrings, my engagement rings and wedding ring. Everywhere I go, no matter what the occasion is, I don’t make an effort to change anything with this ensemble. Except for a pair of white gold earrings, a necklace and bracelet, I don’t have any other pieces of jewelry. I live in Manila where it’s not advisable to wear flashy jewelry, so I save those pieces for very special occasions. Good thing our ever reliable online shop, Zalora, gave me some ideas on how to spice up an outfit! Check out ZALORA's extensive selection of jewelry for women here. There is a wide array of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings to choose from. The selection is actually very versatile. The range varies from the classic pieces to the funky ones. They even have pieces below PHP500!

pearl necklace zaloraThis might be perfect to accentuate the classic LBD!

tribal bracelet zalora I know that G2B is soooo ten years ago, and so is Chichay’s look. But this is actually a nice addition to achieve a Bohemian look.

bellablanca bangle zaloraSimple tee and skirt with this can make one’s look more dainty =)

carrington earrings zaloraThis might come in handy for cocktail parties!

bracelet zaloraTrying to achieve that rock chic look? This! Or pwede rin to fight the snatchers! Harharhar! :p

I consider myself a fashion noob. But as I was looking at the photos of my favorite fashion bloggers, I realized how a simple necklace can change the look of a plain top, how a pair of beautiful earrings can brighten up the face of its wearer, or how a trendy bracelet can turn a day outfit into a party-ready one. Of course one doesn't have to be a fashion guru to know that it's not advisable to over accessorize! But in my case, I have the tendency to “under accessorize”, if there is such a term. :p

Now, I only need to do two things. First, get myself versatile pieces of jewelry. And second, make sure I don’t get lazy when dressing up! I think I should have included these two in my growing list of New Year’s Resolution! Hmmm, who knows? I might finally get the chance to blog more decent OOTD posts! Haha! :p

  3. Ako rin tamad magdress-up. :)
