Restaurant Review: Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen at SM Aura

Last Friday, my husband and I went back to SM Aura for a date night. He has been extremely busy these past few days so I wanted to take his mind off his very stressful work. Aside from the fact that I wanted to spend some quality time with my husband, I also wanted to take that opportunity to try more restaurants at SM Aura. I am beginning to love this mall because it is less crowded and there are a lot of restaurants that we still have yet to try! For our Fridate night, I asked Boyet if he was up to share a bowl of ramen because I had been meaning to try Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen. Surprisingly, he agreed right away probably because we have been trying out different ramen houses lately.

My husband already knows the drill. We always get to share one bowl of ramen and then I would add something on the side. That night, we got to share a bowl of Aburi Chashu Tonkotsu.

Owemgeeeeeehhhh! The aburi chashu was so delicious! The meat is very tender with the perfect thickness of fat surrounding it. The smoky flavor is very evident with a hint of sweetness which somehow reminds me of our local hamonado. The noodles are cooked al dente. I love how the noodles complemented the crunchy texture of the wood ear mushroom.

I love that the soup is not that rich. Hindi nakakaumay. It has that distinct earthy flavor which was probably brought by the tons of spring onions and the slices of bamboo shoots. My husband and I were arguing the entire night regarding this. I could not convince him that those thick strips are bamboo shoots. He was claiming that those are chunks of ginger. Haha!

I mentioned earlier that each time we go to a ramen house, my husband is in charge of choosing the ramen for us to share while I get something else on the side. That “something else” is usually gyoza!

I enjoyed every bite of this gyoza. That tasty and moist filling becomes extra flavorful with every dip to the sauce. But what sets this gyoza apart is that slightly blistered skin which made its texture a mix between crunchy and chewy.

Fridate night with two boys, this overworked husband…

was well-spent. Food was great and service was really fast and efficient!

So, where to go next for our ramen fix? =)

  1. Masarap din sa Ramen Yushoken sa Molito, Alabang. Medyo malayo nga lang sa inyo, hehe. Pero promise, panalo talaga ramen nila pati gyoza. :)

    I blogged about it here:
