Je Tries to Bake: Brownies

Years ago when I was still starting out in baking, the first thing I learned to bake was a block of burnt brownies. Over the years, I have tried experimenting which made me learn from my mistakes, like never letting Boyet cut the brownies because he will surely ruin it. Harharhar! But when I baked some brownies a few weeks ago, I once again entrusted him in cutting. I think he is intentionally messing it up so he could eat the scraps!

Anyway, let me share with you a brownies recipe which I got from a baking book I purchased years ago but with some slight modifications. This is just a plain brownies recipe, no marshmallow toppings or chocolate drizzle. =)

INGREDIENTS:

collage

3/4 bar margarine, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
2 eggs
3/4 cup all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat the oven to 180C.

2. Mix the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, softened margarine and sugar.

4. Mix the dry into the wet ingredients by batch. Stir until there are no more lumps.

5. Pour over a greased baking pan.

6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, then let it cool.

Apologies for the crappy brownies as my baking skills got a little rusty after hibernating for years! But my entire family loved it. My sloppy brownies even got a lot of compliments from my teammates. =) But on second thought, I don't think they would have the guts to let me know that the stuff I let them eat tastes horrible. :p
