Movie Review: Despicable Me 2

My husband and I already missed a lot of movies that were shown for the past couple of months. But despite our very busy (and demanding) schedules, we managed to squeeze in some time to watch Despicable Me 2! Despicable Me holds a very special place in my heart, not only because it is one of my all-time favorite animated movies, but also because I was able to watch it while I was in Minnesota. I was thousands of miles away from home and my then fiancé (now my husband hihi) so watching Despicable Me somehow helped me with my homesickness. Also, when I think of Despicable Me, I remember those two American kids seated beside me who could not stop laughing, singing and dancing all throughout the movie! Cuteness overload! ^_^

The animation is undoubtedly really good. But in terms of the depth of the story, I liked the first installment better. I just felt that Despicable Me 2 is a bit predictable. I knew who the villain would be and who would save the day. But I still enjoyed it as much as I did with the first movie. The best thing about watching these kinds of film is that it gives me the license to laugh as hard as I can if I want to! Despicable Me 2 definitely made me (and my husband too) really happy. Saying that it’s hilarious will be a big understatement. Nanigas tiyan ko kakatawa! At ihing-ihi si Boyet after ng movie! =))

The minions were certainly the life of the movie. They are all so adorable even if they turned into those evil purple minions! I swear that I heard a couple of Filipino words in some of the scenes. I am pretty sure that I heard one of them say “Madali ka!” I read from an online article that minions can really speak Filipino! Nyaha! :p

I also loved Gru’s transformation from that grumpy evil villain in the first movie to a perfect father figure for the three girls. I find how overprotective he was of Margo really cute. I fell in love with Agnes on the first movie. And though she had some tender moments especially at the end (which was soooo adorable!!!), I wanted to see more of her (and her cute, chubby cheeks). But overall, Despicable Me 2 is something worth of your time. I love how movies like this bring out the child in most of us.

“And I swearrrrrrr by the moon and the stars in the skies…”

99% ng lumabas ng sinehan, for sure na-LSS dito! :p
