Restaurant Review: Gumbo

Heloooooweeee!!! The holiday rush is finally over and I just got back from an out-of-town trip. I was mostly offline for the past couple of weeks which explains my inability to update this blog regularly. HAHAHA! Ang totoo, tinatamad lang talaga ako! :p

Before I start posting about my latest trip, allow me to get rid of a couple of backlogs which have been sitting in my drafts section for ages. Let me start with one of my favorite restaurants – GUMBO. We had lunch at Gumbo while doing our last-minute Christmas shopping. Hubby insisted that he has not yet tried Gumbo. Meatylicious Lunch at Gumbo < -- O eto ang patunay, magbasa ka kasi ng blog ko! :p

To jumpstart our meal, we paired the Soup of the Day with Gumbo’s complimentary bread. This freshly-toasted bread goes really well with their simple olive oil with garlic dip. On the other hand, the soup may just look so plain, but the flavors aren’t. All your senses will definitely be awakened by the burst of flavors that come out from this bowl. We could taste the crabs and the richness of the cream. It was a bit spicy so that was definitely an added point for me. The croutons and spring onions on top added texture to the soup.

Hubby wanted something really heavy for lunch so he opted to get Gumbo’s U.S. Porkloin which was served with savory rice and vegetables. Boyet liked everything except the cauliflower on the side. This is no longer a surprise since he is not included in the BEST IN EATING VEGETABLES honor roll. :p

Can you guess what I had for lunch? If you have burger on your mind, then you know me too well!

Served with fries on the side, Gumbo’s Bacon Cheeseburger is a half pound grilled Angus beef patty sitting on a bed of lettuce and topped with cheese, tomatoes, pickles, onions and crispy bacon. Can you ever go wrong with something like that? The patty was perfectly-cooked and very juicy too. The crispy bacon made the burger even more flavorful. The burger was also oozing with melted cheese which gave me an instant “foodgasm”. :p

For years, Gumbo has never let me down by always giving me the best gastronomic experience each time I visit them. :)
