A Breeze of Good Deeds #37: Give a Little Love

On one of the sessions of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, our facilitator randomly asked us. If you’re innately a good person but you have an office mate who keeps on doing bad things to you, will you still continue being good? That question stopped me for a good two minutes. Will I fight back? How long can I take it? It will surely be tempting to get even since it is human nature after all. But then the story of the scorpion entered my mind. And the facilitator told us almost the exact thing as what the story of the scorpion wants to teach us. Continue being good. You will not be doing it for that person, you’re doing it for yourself. Why will you change just because the people around you are “different” from who you are. As the Hindu from the story asked, “It is my nature to love. It is the scorpion’s nature to sting. Why would I change my nature to love only because it is the scorpion’s nature to sting?”

In this day and age when being good is sometimes a sign of weakness, this video is very fitting to remind us that a good deed is never too small. In a busy world where nobody pays attention to reaching out to others, here’s a video to remind us that someone somewhere notices a good heart. And someday, that small deed will be paid forward. At the end of the video, you’ll realize that any change which seems too big to be achieved always starts with someone that initiates the change… a spark that ignites the flame.

If you give a little love, you can get a little love of your own!

If this video did not restore your faith in humanity, something is terribly wrong with you! :p
