After visiting some of Boyet’s relatives, we went back to Hotel Fleuris for lunch. The hotel offers a city tour for PHP600 per person. It includes transportation and entrance fees. But Boyet’s cousin referred us to a tricycle driver who also happens to be a tour guide. He charged us with PHP250 per person for a four-hour city tour. It may not be as comfortable as riding a van. But we saved a lot and we were able to manage our time since there were no other tourists with us.

Our first stop was the Crocodile Farm. It was almost an hour-long tricycle ride from our hotel. I even fell asleep along the way. The place has scheduled tours every thirty minutes.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything exciting with this part of the tour other than the humongous crocodile skeleton at the entrance.

Our next stop was Rancho Sta. Monica. We were not able to appreciate the viewing deck and the zipline that the place offers because it started to rain. :'(

The hotel’s city tour includes a visit at the Iwahig Prison but it wasn’t a part of our itinerary. Instead, our tour guide brought us to Baker’s Hill. Even before we reached the place, we could already smell the sweet aroma of freshly-baked breads. We bought boxes of hopia as pasalubong. And they sell the yummiest ensaymada I've ever tasted!

The place has cute life-size figures which will definitely catch the attention of tourists. It was as if we were in wonderland as we play with amazement with the sculptures. It’s definitely a place for the kids and the kids at heart.

Baker’s Hill is also a food haven. Aside from a restaurant, they also have pizza and merienda stands. As a matter of fact, Boyet traveled all the way to Palawan to eat lugaw. :p

Our tour guide was a bit worried that we might not see butterflies in the Butterfly Garden because of the rain. It was a good thing though that the rain stopped after our tour at Baker’s Hill. Ironically, it wasn’t the butterflies that astonished us. We were like kids on a field trip staring at the gecko and the stick insect.

Our tour guide brought us to the baywalk. The scorching heat of the sun after the rain hindered us from enjoying the view. We took a couple of photos and headed to our next destination.

Our tour guide brought us to our final stop – the Plaza Cuartel. It was a WWII fort which witnessed the burning of almost 150 American prisoners by the Japanese soldiers. Going there on a gloomy afternoon was really creepy so I asked Boyet if we could leave right away.

It wasn’t part of the tour but since it is just across Plaza Cuartel, we told our tour guide that we’d go inside the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.

It was indeed the best way to end our first day in Palawan. :)

We booked a round trip ticket to Malaysia last year for our honeymoon. But since we were both busy with the wedding preparations, we didn’t have the time to arrange our trip. Good thing though that one of our principal sponsor gave us a round trip ticket to Puerto Princesa. Thanks Ninang! :p

Our departure to Manila was scheduled on June 16 so I started searching online and booked a hotel where we can stay a day before our flight. Cramming much! :p

I actually asked Boyet to do the researching but I think planning a vacation is not his forte. Still empty-handed after sitting in front of the computer for hours, I decided to take over and made a booking in no time.

Hotel Fleuris is just a five-minute drive from the Puerto Princesa Airport. We arrived at the hotel by 10 in the morning. Fortunately, they allowed us to check in early.

They gave us a room in the third floor facing the hotel’s front garden. The air-conditioned room is large enough and equipped with cable TV and a personal refrigerator. They also provide an extra pillow and comforter with no extra charge.

As I am very particular with a hotel’s restroom, I checked ours right away. I’ll give it a passing rate since it’s clean and spacious. It has hot and cold shower and the hotel provides for basic toiletries.

The hotel rates include free breakfast. Their food is so good which made me forget that I am an adventurous eater. This is actually my first trip that I didn’t bug Boyet to go on food trips. :)

We went to the hotel from the airport via a tricycle. When the receptionist found out about it, he informed us that they have a free shuttle service. We really appreciate that they called us the day before we checked out and let us know that they can bring us to the airport.

Everybody was so friendly and accommodating. They were quick in answering all our inquiries and addressing our additional requests. There was just one minor incident when I settled our bill. A trainee did the computations and overcharged us by PHP170. I just realized it when I checked the receipts and I immediately brought it to their attention. Other than that, it was indeed an enjoyable stay in Hotel Fleuris. :)

Weee! I’m back! Well, sort of!

I am still recovering from my pre-wedding food and sleep deprivations while adjusting with being married. Days before the wedding, I dreamt of walking down the aisle without a bridal bouquet. I also had a nightmare seeing my wedding singer sing I HAVE NOTHING as my bridal march. There was also a typhoon on the week of our wedding. That’s why Boyet and I are still at awe that everything fell into place on our wedding day.

Thanks to all our suppliers and the prayers of all our families and friends. I still don’t have the wedding photos but I promise to share everything in this blog as soon as I get hold of them. They are so awesome! ^_^
