Cerealicious

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

I have always wanted to try Cerealicious but the place is always out of seats. And luckily, malls are almost empty after Christmas that’s why we were able to grab a seat yesterday. It is located at the 3rd floor Midtown Wing of the Robinson’s Place Ermita just in front of Toys ‘R Us.

That's my sweetie getting our Cerealicious treats ^_^

They brought a twist to the usual breakfast we all grew up with. Yummy!

Pirates of the Cadbury-ean Blockbuster Php85
(Koko Duo, Cadbury Zip, Oreo)

Nutting Hill Blockbuster with Ice Cream Php85
(Koko Krunch, Marshmallows, Nuts, Choco Kisses)

Cerealicious lives out to its promise in bringing happiness one bowl at a time. Visit their site for more yummy treats! :)

Ajisen Ramen

Due to the long holiday break, most ATMs were either offline or out of cash. So on our way home after attending the birthday celebration of Boyet’s niece last Sunday, we dropped by Robinson’s Place Ermita to withdraw some cash. But due to Boyet’s hangover from drinking the night before, he couldn't stop craving for soups. I was suggesting Tempura Japanese Grill because I loved their seafood ramen. But Boyet thought to try out Ajisen Ramen as he was thinking that I just ate at Tempura the day before. I granted his wish. Hehe! I had Kon Sarada while he had the Seafood Ramen.

Kon Sarada

Seafood Ramen

My verdict? I was so disappointed. The salad was fine but that small serving costs almost a hundred pesos. The ramen has seafood in it which is obviously why they called it seafood ramen. But it didn’t taste likewise at all! The soup was very oily. The price is not reasonable relative to the taste of the food and the service they give. The waitresses do not even smile. I am not sure if they are just tired or sloppy because of the holidays. Well, Boyet should have listened to me when I suggested we eat at Tempura. That’s the price he had to pay. Harharhar!!!

Tempura Japanese Grill

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

After a few hours at Tom’s World, we headed to Tempura Japanese Grill for dinner. It was already our third time to eat there and my mom just kept on choosing the same seat. Haha! I was guilty of all the fat and sugar intakes during the holidays so I decided to go healthy. As starter, I tried their Kani Salad.

I really loved the combination of the lettuce, corn, crabsticks and the Japanese mayo. Yummy! The service is really fast that’s why the Uncle Sam’s Maki was already served even before I finished my salad.

I enjoyed the maki a lot. This is probably why I didn't have enough room for these...

I highly recommend Tempura Japanese Grill if you are yearning for good food at reasonable price, fast service and friendly crew. :)

Tom's World

The long Christmas vacation gave us a lot of time to be to do things for the first time. It all started with these…

My brother was just doing his last-minute Christmas shopping on December 24 when he got lucky and went home with almost 200 tokens from Tom’s World. That’s why last December 27, the whole family set off to Tom’s World at the 3rd level of Robinson’s Place Ermita just beside Toys 'R Us.

That was my first time to try out Tom’s World. It was my parents’ first time to ever been in an arcade. And it was the first time that we all went together.

My brother tried his luck once again to win more tokens.

My parents also gave it a shot.

But we all went empty-handed. Hahaha! Just as the saying goes: It's not the winning that matters but how you played the game. Nahhh! Whatever! It didn't matter because we definitely had fun. ^_^

The Thoughtful Joie Relevante

Friday, December 26, 2008

I have been collecting keychains for a while. If someone would ask what “pasalubong” or gift I want to receive, keychain is always the first on my list. And just before Christmas, Joie gave me a very nice couple’s keychain. :)

Just when I thought that the key ring was already her Christmas gift to me, I was wrong. She was so patient and thoughtful to give each of us a picture frame. But it was not an ordinary one. She told us that her aim was to make us all laugh. Yeah, it made me giggle a little. But everybody who saw it laughed out loud. And all of us noticed the same photo. See for yourself!

I think I have humiliated myself well enough. Hehe! But kidding aside, I appreciate the time and effort Joie put in this “craft”. Thanks Joie! :)

Havaianas for Christmas

The stress brought about by the Christmas shopping has finally perished. I made sure that I didn’t miss anybody. It feels good when someone thanks me and appreciates the gift I gave. Christmas is really a time of giving. But I would be a hypocrite if I say that I don’t enjoy receiving gifts. Believe me; I am still like child who gets excited in unwrapping presents. I got even more excited because it was the first time that I got a Havaianas as a gift. Yipee! Thanks baby! :)

It is definitely a welcome addition to these...

Something Funny

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

My phone rang. Mike asked for a favor if I could look at the piece of paper in his keyboard and tell him if his ‘baby’ is a boy or a girl. I looked what was written: F | Ran Mouri. Damn! When I told him it was me, he promised to give me the “something funny” for the last Kris Kringle on his last day. He had to make up because the element of surprise was already lost. And then I found this on my workstation…

Funny, isn't it? He still managed to bash Tang until the end. :p

Shanghai Cuisine and Chicago Pizza Factory

Amidst the struggle of budgeting our Christmas bonus, Boyet and I still had the luxury to try out two restaurants two weeks ago. In the middle of the Christmas rush, we decided to try out a fusion of the East and the West in one day. We had lunch at Shanghai Cuisine located at the 3rd level Midtwon Wing of Robinson’s Place Ermita.

Minced Beef with White Egg Php140

Sharksfin Php45

Yang Chow Php120
Spareribs with Salt and Pepper Php180

Then as we got tired of the endless toy-hunting for Christmas, we opted to end the day with pizza. Just a few steps away from Shanghai Cuisine is The Chicago Pizza Factory. I was so happy with the 6-inch Wrigley Field pizza served to us. I loved the combination of the usual pizza toppings with lettuce and the unique taste of the special mayo.

Chicago Pizza offers a guilt-free dining experience. It's also a plus point that the crew is so warm and friendly. I'm definitely coming back! :)

Naruto's Christmas Party

Monday, December 22, 2008

December 11, the eve of Mike’s last day was also our company’s Year-End Party. Yeah! I know! My blog is two weeks updated. :(

The party’s theme was foreign TV shows. A team has a chance to win 5,000 worth of gift certificates just by coming to the party with their costumes. Joie and I got a little sentimental and thought a few days before that it would be our last Christmas party with Mike, and probably the last for the group. And then, an idea of saving the best for last was conceived. A lot of suggestions came up: Desperate Housewives, Sex and the City, House, Grey’s Anatomy (which Tang mistakenly mixed up with Greg’s Anatomy), Dragon Ball and a lot more. But since we were up for the win, we settled for Naruto. Haha! We just signed up for the contest a day before the party. We are well-trained to cram! Haha!

We all went to Landmark, Glorietta and SM Makati on the night before the party just to look for costumes. Marwin and Jeff decided to go straight to Mall of Asia to try their luck. The guys were lucky because most of their costumes were readily available at Comic Alley which they picked up the following day; while the girls had to improvise. Joie and I bought our stuffs at Robinson’s Department Store. Nyaha!

We arrived at Bagaberde a few minutes past 6 pm. As soon as we arrived, we all headed to change. Changing to our costumes was easy. What took most of the girls’ time was fixing my hair hehe. Thanks to Kriska for saving the day! As we went out, we were all surprised because everybody was already taking pictures of the boys. The boys were like the stars hunted by the paparazzi. Our team has always lived out of the spotlight. Some think that we exist in a world we created by ourselves. But that night was different.

The boys were talking how popular they've become :p

And the girls were like the stars’ P.A. Haha!

Cameras were flashing here and there but mostly for this guy! Scene-stealer! :p

Me as Tenten with Mike Sy as Kakashi

It was a night full of smiles and laughter. More photos to prove...

Joie as Hinata and Tang as Choji

Same pose for Tang =))

Smile :)

Bully!
It was also a night of candidness...

What's wrong Mike??!!

Constipated Choji??!

and a night dedicated for unglamorous people...

I have no idea what was wrong with me!

????

Unfortunately, we didn’t win the contest. But it really didn’t matter! We may not have the prize but we enjoyed every single minute of the night.

It was so nice to look stupid for a night especially if you’re doing it with your friends. The party ended with a group hug…

and the legendary jump shot...

I look ridiculous!

Ogie, teach me the basics of jump shots hehe :)

That night was the first and hopefully the last that I would make a fool out of myself. Good thing he was there to remind me that I look fine, though I could see the smiles he was consciously hiding.

Tagaytay Trip

Thursday, December 18, 2008

It’s been one hell of a month! A lot of things happened (Tagaytay getaway, Navitaire’s Year-end Party, Mike’s last day, food trips and last-minute Christmas shopping) but I didn’t have the time to blog all of them. This blog is officially outdated. Huhu! But as the saying goes, it’s better late than never.

I’ll start with my latest Tagaytay trip. It was my first time to be in Canyon Woods though the group has already been there last year. We left on November 29 so as to take advantage of the long weekend. We arrived at CW a little before lunch time. Since the check-in time is 2 p.m., we just roamed around and took pictures here and there. Below are some of my favorite random shots.

I took this just out of boredom...

This is what you call MAGIC :)

The modern Nativity story (Western version with Santa Claus)

My piece of mind in this crazy world

Let's recycle!!!

Need to say we're inside an elevator??!

Competitive boys playing Twister ^_^

After the Twister game, we watched 1408 on the first night. Now I know who shouts the loudest while watching a horror movie! But I’ll just keep it a secret. :p

The following day, we had a one-hour drive to Nasugbu to have lunch at Canyon Cove. Actually, it was lunch cum early dinner because of the very slow service of the restaurant. But of course, we still have to forge a smile because we need to look good in pictures. Hehehe!

Outings are never complete without the infamous jump shots. Some are funny...

Some are really impressive...

But there are times when inevitably, has a bad ending (and a bad fall)...

On our second night, we bombarded the silent Canyon Woods with our singing voices. We also had a few drinks though someone just got a little too excited…

We woke up early the next morning, went to the clubhouse and stretched our muscles.

Tagaytay trips are not complete without having a meal overlooking Taal Volcano. Our choice was lunch at Josephine’s. It was my second time there and I bet I would still love to come over and over again. More photos at Josephine's below.

I just have one tip for those planning to go to Tagaytay. Never ever fail to drop by Rowena’s. This is my first time to buy “pasalubong” from them but I can guarantee that theirs is so good! I love Rowena’s blueberry tart. So yummy!

Rowena's Buko Tart, Cashew Nuts and Sylvannas :)

I enjoyed my three-day stay so much. It feels nice to eat good food, have a good laugh and just hang out with dear friends. I'm hoping there will be another one next year. Paging Winston Lee! Hehe! :)
